Packing for your child’s school trip

There will be a time when our children burst in the front door brandishing a letter telling of a trip away with the school. This is more than likely going to be for 3 or 4 days, or linger if it is a trip abroad. If you can afford to send your child, it will be a great experience for them, but don’t go crazy when it comes to packing their case.

The weight will be very restricted and you don’t want them to have the embarrassment of their case being too heavy. There will be list issued by the school with guidelines for the likes of clothes and shoes, and also for toiletries such a toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo etc. Travel sized packs of these are invaluable and take up a lot less room. Now for the extras we always want to push into their cases, consider these carefully. A supply of sweets is a good idea to keep their energy levels up as they may find it difficult to sleep being out of their own home. If they are going abroad, they may be trying new cuisine which they may or many not like, a travel sized mouthwash will help to get rid of any unpleasant aftertastes. New batteries for their camera is also essential, as they will be wanting to taste stacks of photos, even though you may not get to see many of them! Energy bars are also a good idea if they meet breakfast for some reason, or simply don’t like the food.

One more thing, if there is a limit on their spending money give them a bit more so that they can phone home, they will want to, despite their protestations.
